My name is Jia Lucman and I am a first generation Somali American born in Kenya. Growing up my mom used to tell me to read books so I could learn English. Every time I finished a story she would be so proud because she never got to attend school. I always had a passion for stories unfortunately I never imagined anyone would in interested about a story with with someone who looked like me because I never read such books.
