Nicholas Hedlund is the founding director of Eudaimonia Institute, a think tank and social innovations lab based in Northern California. Studying under the philosopher Roy Bhaskar, he obtained his PhD in Philosophy and Social Sciences from University College London. He was an exchange scholar at Yale University in the Department of Sociology, served as Executive Director of the Integral Research Center, was organizer of the International Critical Realism & Integral Theory Symposia Series (held in London and San Francisco), and was Adjunct Professor at John F. Kennedy University. His articles have appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Environmental Science & Policy and the Journal of Integral Theory and Practice. He is co-editor, along with Roy Bhaskar, Sean Esbjörn-Hargens, and Mervyn Hartwig, of Metatheory for the Twenty-First Century: Critical Realism and Integral Theory in Dialogue.
