Naomi V. Dunsen-White is an award-winning children's book author who loves to inspire and encourage children to use their imagination and interests to discover their potential. She writes books that promote diversity and inclusion, and encourage self-discovery and self-determination.

She has a passion for closing the diversity gap in the children’s literature industry and believes that ALL children deserve to have books with characters who look a lot like themselves. Naomi believes that encouraging children to become book lovers is one of the greatest opportunities a person could have. She also believes that all children have a gift within, just waiting to be discovered. It’s up to us, the adults in their lives, to help them discover it. The joy of reading is the first step toward discovery!

Naomi has a heart for helping children master literacy skills! She has donated over 800 copies of her two children’s books, “Johari The Great” and “Why Am I Here? A Child’s Book About Purpose” to inner-city children to encourage them and inspire hope. Naomi wants all children to know that despite their challenges, background or zip code, they, too, have a purpose and a future that is bright!

Naomi is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and the Black Caucus of the American Library Association. She is a former educator and foster care specialist who has always loved working with children. Using her experience, Naomi’s books are educational, uplifting and inclusive. They include worksheets and/or discussion questions in the back to enhance understanding and encourage self-expression.

Psychological thrillers are her favorite guilty pleasure.
