I was born and raised in Lima, Peru, where I studied and worked as a psychologist for over 15 years. In 2002, I immigrated to Canada with my husband and two kids and became a Canadian citizen. In Canada, I continued my education in early childhood education and opened my own daycare.

In 2016, I started an educational website, https://www.emmasplace.ca, to provide parents and educators with tools to teach children in a holistic way. As a psychologist and educator, I aim to create opportunities for children to develop in all areas, with a focus on the social and emotional aspects.
My books emphasize the importance of social and emotional skills.

I have always loved reading and writing stories since I was a child. I was inspired to write children's books by my own experiences as a mother, a teacher, and a psychologist. I wanted to share stories that would help children cope with their emotions, learn new skills, and appreciate the beauty of nature.

My first children's book, "Lou and his Mane," was published in 2021; this book tells the story of a lion who wakes up one day to find out his worst fear has come true; his mane is gone! This book explores the topics of facing fears, friendship, problem-solving and sibling relations.

My second book, "Yuri and the Treasure Box," features a curious monkey who finds something strange in the jungle. He picks it up, wondering what it is. This book aims to raise awareness of the Amazon and its diverse wonders and teaches children about empathy, self-regulation, curiosity, respect, consideration, and compassion for others.

Kenny and his Great Invention came out at the end of 2022 and follows Kenny, a penguin who wants to build a spaceship and become the first penguin astronaut. This book teaches children about doing the right thing, friendship, and social values.

I have recently published my new book Yuri and the Jungle Ribbon, which continues the adventures of this curious monkey. While walking in the Amazon, something hit him on the head. What is it? Yuri will learn an important lesson about true happiness in this story.

I live in Kitsilano, Vancouver, with my family and cat, Ricky.
