Christian Michener was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and has lived in Minnesota for the past three decades with his wife and four children. He has published numerous short stories in places such as The Kenyon Review and Crazyhorse as well as poetry and literary criticism. His young adult novel The Book of Battles, which began as a story for his children, was inspired by his trips to Ireland and his interest in printed material culture and calligraphy.
